NRG also boasts an effective content creator program; recently, Minecraft YouTuber Sapnap joined NRG as co-owner.
OpTic Gaming
OpTic Gaming is an esports organization with teams dedicated to Call of Duty, League of Legends, Overwatch, and Rocket League. Their Hot Pockets Castle studio/playspace also hosts giant creative installations with scrim/stream areas for added gameplay experience.
At the 2017 World Championship, they advanced past group play and lost in a winners semifinal series to EUnited; however, they would rebound by defeating EnVy in losers finals to reach grand finals and replace Turbopolsa with jstn as first team to win two events at same LAN tournament.
At Northern Arena Montreal, the team managed to shake off an uninspiring start and reach the playoffs, facing Danish side G2 in an intense series.
Kings of Urban
NRG recruits members into its fan panels through in-person events and online recruitment, using third-party research partners when necessary; however, according to Cohen NRG only releases research when there is clear value add in doing so; that is why not every survey or poll gets released publicly.
NRG Gaming took over Kings of Urban prior to RLCS season 2 as an acquisition, becoming one of the premier teams in North American region and winning Major tournaments and regional events regularly.
Fireburner and Jacob are two of the top players in North America (NA). Additionally, jstn provides excellent mechanical play to penetrate opponent defences, and GarrettG is considered one of the best shooters worldwide.
Turbopolsa
NRG Esports made history this season when Pierre “Turbopolsa” Silfver from Europe joined their North American roster for RLCS season 8. This was the first time such an act had ever taken place and provided them a significant advantage in competition.
NRG doesn’t expect him to score every game; they just need him to capitalize when there are opportunities.
He’s a friendly guy and adds an exciting dynamic to JSTN and GarrettG’s team, helping to win more matches than before despite playing for so long without success. All he wanted was for it all to come together; finally his burden has been lifted off his back!
SquishyMuffinz
SquishyMuffinz is an acclaimed pro-Rocket League player who has been dominating his game for quite a while. A grand champion, his YouTube channel features videos of him playing as well as tips for those hoping to improve their own skills.
NRG Gaming was forced to make some drastic adjustments following an underwhelming finish in RLCS Season Four, including replacing Jacob with rookie prodigy jstn and disassembling their lineup in favor of rookie prodigy jstn and two other underperforming talents: this trio managed to win DreamHack Atlanta and qualify for the RLCS World Championships tournaments despite seemingly mismatched talents on each roster member.
Kyle “Torment” Storer, Garrett “GarrettG” Gordon and Justin Morales will make up this team despite lacking competitive experience; these three have proven their mettle in smaller online events.
Sapnap
Sapnap is an acclaimed YouTube gaming broadcaster with more than three million subscribers on Twitch. He can often be found streaming various titles such as Apex Legends, League of Legends, Overwatch Rocket League and even Valorant; an emerging first-person shooter game.
