Aragon is a large landlocked region in northeastern Spain located between the Pyrenees Mountains and Ebro River, with Zaragoza as its capital known for its Moorish-influenced Mudejar architecture.
Aragon was ruled during the Middle Ages by several kings who controlled different regions. Ferdinand of Antequera married Isabella of Castile to unify these kingdoms into modern Spain.
Aragon once boasted its own language and laws, yet over time they slowly faded as Aragon began to emulate Castile more closely. By 1412, nobles of Aragon decided to join forces with Castile to overcome Catalan resistance to their rule.
