AFK Gaming

AFK Gaming is an Asian esports content company focused on Dota 2 gaming in Asia. Established in 2012, their focus is providing quality coverage of teams, players and tournaments in Dota 2.

Recently, they secured a $200K USD Pre-Series A financing round from Inflection Point Ventures, Akshat Rathee, Nodwin Gaming and SMAAASH Innovations; an impressive investment that signifies their rapid expansion within the industry.

“AFK” stands for “Away From Keyboard.” This term is popularly used when playing online games, indicating someone who isn’t active but connected to the internet and wants to keep in contact with friends without leaving their console or PC for too long.

PSG Talon

PSG Talon is a League of Legends team based out of Hong Kong competing in the Pacific Championship Series (PCS), the top professional League of Legends tournament for Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and Oceania.

The PCS is a major league in esports and has produced many champions such as Korean duo River and Tank. Furthermore, two major tournaments were hosted under its auspices including ESWC.

However, PSG Talon and LGD Gaming – Esports Team have an inherent conflict of interest that may create issues between them. Paris Saint-Germain currently sponsors LGD Gaming on DOTA 2, creating an issue for both teams.

LGD Gaming’s chances to advance in the League of Legends World Championship will depend heavily on how they fare against PSG Talon in the Play-In stage, so Paris Saint-Germain may use their partnership agreement with them against LGD Gaming as leverage against them and use this matchup against LGD Gaming as leverage against them causing them to lose against PSG Talon.

Rainbow7 made waves by upstaging LPL team LGD Gaming to advance from the play-in stage of the 2020 League of Legends World Championship and claim victory. Some analysts questioned their chances, given how quickly LGD Gaming began their run through.

LGD started off their match evenly matched in teamfights during the early game, however R7 mid laner Aloned displayed impressive Orianna skills that led to multiple picks across the map and eventually, they forced a three kill team fight in the jungle that ended up producing Baron Nashor as their prize.

After winning two-for-one in their third team fight, they secured their Nexus and began sieging of the base, eventually storming through and taking it.

Rainbow7 now stands a chance of securing a tiebreaker before elimination rounds begin, and still have an opportunity to enter bracket stage by defeating V3 Esports on Sunday.
